AFC Bournemouth has been showing its support of International Women’s Day 2021, with a host of activities taking place around the club.
Our Women’s team have been particularly influential, linking up with members of the under-10, under-12, under-14 and under-16 teams via Zoom and sharing their experiences in the game.
Training plans, fitness videos and workshops, which have been focused on formations and position profiling, have also been provided throughout lockdown to our four girls’ teams and senior squads, who continue to benefit today.
A Careers in Sport series was also organised by the Community Sports Trust throughout lockdown, targeting young girls from the Premier League Kicks programme and those on the Female Education Programme at Brockenhurst College.
Five influential females who work within the football industry shared their stories and answered questions from the group, with Tottenham Hotspur forward Lucy Quinn rounding off the series last week.
There was also an opportunity for Junior Cherries to speak with inspirational women from the football industry, with the club having held a separate masterclass via Zoom.
There are still plenty of ways that your daughter can benefit from our women’s football programme, with girls-only soccer schools returning for the Easter Holidays. Spaces are limited and can be booked here.
Additionally, the club provide weekly Friday training sessions for girls aged between 12 and 16, but once again spaces are limited so book up here.
With a whole host of activities having taken place and several set up for the coming months, head of community and women’s team manager Steve Cuss couldn’t be prouder of the support females receive at AFC Bournemouth.
“International Women’s Day has been a fantastic opportunity to showcase opportunities and pathways through our projects and campaigns.
“We are grateful to all our guests and participants for their continued support.”
Over the past year, AFC Bournemouth is proud to have been awarded the Advanced Level of the Premier League Equality Standard in recognition of the club’s commitment to equality. More information can be found here.
