Balraj Landa is settling into life with the Cherries, having put pen to paper on a deal in the summer.

On Tuesday evening, he scored his first two goals of the season on his first start and was beaming from ear to ear when speaking with afcb.co.uk.

A convincing 5-0 performance from Alan Connell’s side saw them progress past Moneyfields in the Hampshire Senior Cup, with the third round draw set to take place in the coming day.

Dominic Sadi also grabbed a brace on the night, while there was also a goal from Jack Wadham in midfield to cap off a near-perfect night in Portsmouth.

Landa was right at the heart of it and expressed his delight after the game.

“It’s nice to get the two goals this evening,” he began.

“It was my first start of the season too, so I’m really happy and the goals are a bonus.

“The first one, I found myself in a one-on-one situation, so I just tried to beat my man and finish. The second one, I actually don’t remember it too much! The goal just opened up and I took my chance.

“When I then went round the ‘keeper, I thought it was going to be my hat-trick, but I overran it so had to play it back and luckily Dom [Sadi] was there to finish. I’m still happy with the two goals!

“It was a great game for us, especially after the loss last week and even the game before. We drew with Sheffield Wednesday, but it felt like a loss.

“This will bring our confidence back up going into next week’s Premier League Cup game against Charlton.”

Landa went on to discuss how much he’s enjoying his football with the Cherries, having spent the last few years down the road with Eastleigh.

Having initially spent time in Southampton’s youth set up, the forward admitted that he’s pleased to be back in an academy set up.

“It’s a really good set up here for me and I’m enjoying it. I’m back in an academy system now and the team is great.

“Every day we’re trying hard and working hard, obviously that showed tonight.

“It was a great experience last season reaching the final, so that’s the motivation. Even though I didn’t play, I was still in and around it with training. We have the same goal again to get there this season.”

This will bring our confidence back up going into next week’s Premier League Cup game against Charlton.
