Local groups presented with Community Fund cheques

AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth were pleased to welcome the recent recipients of December’s Cherries Community Fund donations to Vitality Stadium for their large cheque presentation photo with the panel.

Jeff Mostyn, Club Ambassador, Steve Cuss, Head of AFC Bournemouth’s Community Sports Trust, and AFC Bournemouth player, Marcus Tavernier, were all on hand to make the presentations, having carefully chosen the local causes who would receive donations.

The Cherries Community Fund is a scheme to help pump money back into the local community, with the amount raised from the club’s popular half-time draw on a matchday, as well as from auctions within the hospitality suites, being distributed to local causes.

The organisations apply for consideration through afcb.co.uk, with the above panel meeting quarterly to decide where the latest funds raised will be distributed.

A total of £187,253.67 has been donated to local causes since the fund started in January 2016, with the club now welcoming applications for consideration in March 2023.

All applications received by the end of February will be reviewed, however those who get in touch following this date will still be up for considering in subsequent panel meetings.

So far, the fund has helped a wide variety of projects in the local area, including football clubs, local schools, a variety of community projects and the homeless across Bournemouth.
