The FA People’s Cup has returned for 2018 and AFC Bournemouth’s Ability Counts teams entered in both Hampshire and Dorset competitions, lending to a busy seven days.

In total, three adult teams and one under-16s side entered the local tournaments in a bid to progress to the future rounds of the competition.

Just the one adult team has progressed through and look forward to the next round of the FA People’s Cup.

AFC Bournemouth Reds, the only side to progress in the competition, put in a strong performance as they rounded off their group stage taking maximum points, and scoring an impressive 12 goals in three games.

AFC Bournemouth Blacks, the other Senior team taking part in the Hampshire tournament, looked strong from the off and showed resilience through some of their more difficult fixtures, including a 0-0 draw against a strong Streets Ahead side.

The following Sunday, in the Dorset tournament, the third and final senior team were in action.

They started the day with a very positive attitude and high spirit, which saw them take third place overall in their group stage. A pleasing result, but not enough to progress further in the competition.

The youngest of the Cherries teams to enter the tournament also played in the Dorset competition.

AFC Bournemouth fielded a young Cherries side, with many making their under-16 debuts after progressing up from the younger age groups, and one player making his first appearance in red and black.

Despite a tough day, in terms of results, the team improved in each game they played and showed some excellent team spirit.

With the excitement of the next round of the FA People’s Cup to look forward to for the senior Reds team, all senior sides can also look forward to returning to the Hampshire League fixtures again this Sunday.
