AFC Bournemouth Ability Counts sides enjoyed another weekend of football.

This weekend was the seniors' last set of league fixtures before the Christmas break.

The Reds played two league fixtures and one friendly. Despite being without 'keeper Lewis Bath, outfield player MJ Barton stepped in to fill his position for the league games and helped his team to pick up the full six points.

The AFC Bournemouth Blacks may have lost their opening game of the day to the Reds, but they went on to win their following two games with a 1-0 win against Sholing FC Whites, followed by a 3-1 victory over Eastleigh Multisports Blues.

Charlie Hoskins of the AFC Bournemouth Stripes had a day to remember after he opened his goal tally, scoring his first ever strike for the Cherries in a 2-0 win over Sholing FC Reds. Jon Lloyd-Jones played the ball across the box for Hoskins to tap home.

This was quickly followed by his second in the next game, when he capitalised on a defensive error by Streets Ahead Blacks with a decisive finish to win the game 1-0.

The AFC Bournemouth Cherries showed some great improvements this week and they were unlucky in their first two games of the day.

In their first they held the Stripes at 0-0 until just before half time when Stevey Cooper put them ahead with a cool finish.

In the second half, some great defending from B Rowland and Jason Lavender held off any further attacks. They even went very close to getting an equaliser when Glyn Scotcher forced Stripes keeper Andrew Burstow into a great reaction save.

The AFC Bournemouth Cherries were disappointed not to get a point in their second game either, after going 2-0 down to Streets Ahead Blacks and pulling it back to 2–2.

Unfortunately, just before the final whistle, Streets Ahead Blacks were able to clinch the win and secure the three points.

Katy Shephard, Ability Counts Co-ordinator, shared her thoughts following the game.

“Today was a brilliant day of fixtures. All the players put in 100%.

“I was pleased with the improvement in the Cherries' performance and the fixtures were enjoyed by all.”
