Bloomfield's belief in Cherries quality

Striker Erin Bloomfield believes AFC Bournemouth women have the quality to deliver a winning run in their push for the National League South title.

The 22-year-old is set to feature for Steve Cuss’s side against former club Southampton Women at Test Park tonight (7.45pm kick-off).

She came off the bench in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Keynsham Town at Vitality Stadium – a result that left the Cherries eight points behind league leaders Exeter City with two games in hand.

With Exeter still to play later in the season, Bloomfield believes the Cherries can put together a positive run of results in their final seven league fixtures.

She told afcb.co.uk: “We recognised our mistakes from Sunday, we will push on, win every game and get that title.

“With the quality we have got we know we can do that.”

Bloomfield, who has previously represented Yeovil Town in the Women’s Super League, arrived at AFC Bournemouth in November having signed from the Sirens.

She scored six times against Southampton’s reserves in the Adopt South Hampshire Women’s Senior Cup back in January but knows this encounter will pose a different challenge.

Quizzed on what it was like going back to a former club, Bloomfield said: “It’s going to be a strange one. I did it against the reserves earlier in the season. It’s always strange but it’s nice to see those familiar faces.

“I try to approach it the same as I do any other game. I’ve got my objectives and my goals for that game and I’ll just try to stick to that.

“Both teams have got quality there, so it’s going to be another tough one. We just have to make sure we put our mistakes right."
