Alan Connell’s under-18s face their first outing in ten days tomorrow morning with the visit of Newport County.

Last time out in the EFL Youth Alliance the Cherries equalised late in an entertaining 3-3 draw with Oxford United at the Yellows’ training headquarters.

With plenty of time on the training pitch since the trip to Oxfordshire, youngster Remy Rees-Dottin feels his side are primed for action.

“It’s been a good rest for the team because we’ve been working hard recently and had a lot of challenges,” he told afcb.co.uk.

“We’ve had to stay focussed and active in training, and we’re all looking forward to the Newport game.

“I’ll be hoping to get some more minutes under my belt, and they’ll pose us a challenge but it’s one that we can overcome.”

That previous outing against the U’s saw Rees-Dottin return from his second hip injury of the campaign.

Not only did the wideman make his comeback by playing a full 90 minutes but marked the occasion by netting that late leveller to earn the Cherries a point on the road.

“It felt really good being out there again and getting 90 minutes in the legs after being injured for the last six weeks,” Rees-Dottin explained.

“Obviously, it was great to get on the scoresheet as well.”

He added: “I moved inside from the wing after Oxford’s third goal and luckily Dan Adu-Adjei flashed his shot across the box, the ‘keeper saved it and I was there to tap in.”

The goal was Rees-Dottin’s second of the season for Connell’s team, contributing to a tally of two goals and one assist over six league and cup outings.

Back in the team and back amongst the goals, the 16-year-old is keen to push on over the remainder of the campaign.

He said: “As a forward, you want to get your numbers up and provide as many goals and assists as possible.

“I’ll now be looking forward to trying to get more goals and assists throughout the rest of the season.”

Kick-off against the Exiles at Canford Park Arena is scheduled for 11.30am on Tuesday 29th November.
