AFC Bournemouth were left searching for their first Premier League win of the season after Wolves came from behind to triumph 2-1 at Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

Dominic Solanke drew first blood for the Cherries, the striker netting his fifth goal of the season with a delightful back-heel in the 17th minute.

But after Matheus Cunha had levelled two minutes into the second half, the Cherries were reduced to ten men when Lewis Cook received a straight red card for violent conduct.

And despite defending heroically, the Cherries were undone when Saša Kalajdžić came off the bench to grab the winner for Gary O’Neil’s team two minutes from time.

Summer signing Alex Scott was handed his Cherries and Premier League debut as head coach Andoni Iraola made four changes to the Cherries starting line-up.

Scott, who was nursing a knee injury when he arrived from Bristol City in August, was joined by Max Aarons, Lloyd Kelly and David Brooks.

A sweeping move involving Solanke and Marcus Tavernier ended with David Brooks firing into the grateful arms of Wolves goalkeeper José Sá.

The visitors immediately countered and Pedro Neto turned inside before letting fly from the edge of the box, his powerful left-foot shot striking the crossbar.

And after the loose ball had fallen invitingly for Matheus Cunha, his follow-up effort was parried by Cherries skipper Neto.

Illia Zabarnyi beat Cunha to Hwang Hee-Chan’s through ball before the Ukraine international diverted Boubacar Traorè’s long-range drive for a corner.

Solanke opened the scoring in the 17th minute following a swift counter-attack, started by Scott and involving Philip Billing and Brooks.

Scott fed Billing, the Denmark international trading passes with Brooks before centring low to Solanke who delightfully back-heeled the ball past Sá.

Billing then proved his worth at the opposite end, the midfielder cutting out Cunha’s dangerous pass following Neto’s surging run from deep.

Portugal international Neto saw his speculative effort clear the crossbar before Solanke was unable to make a clean contact after Brooks had headed Milos Kerkez’s centre back across the face of the goal.

A flurry of bookings towards the end of the first half saw Scott and Zabarnyi joined in referee Paul Tierney's notebook by Wolves pair Matheus Cunha and Maximilian Kilman.

Wolves levelled two minutes into the second half when Matheus Cunha swept the ball into the back of the net after fastening on to a pass from Neto.

The Brazil international was denied a quickfire second when Cherries goalkeeper and fellow countryman Neto got behind his 20-yard potshot.

Cook received a straight red card following a coming-together with Hee-Chan, a VAR check confirming referee Tierney’s decision for violent conduct against the Cherries midfielder.

Ryan Christie, who came off the bench along with Joe Rothwell three minutes after Cook’s sending off, saw his shot through a crowd of players saved low down by Sá.

Neto pulled off an acrobatic save to keep out Cunha’s first-time effort from the edge of the box with Hee-Chan blazing the loose ball high over the crossbar.

Wolves’ Neto squandered a great chance to give them the lead, the frontman lifting his shot over the top after Rayan Aït-Nouri’s low cross had picked him out.

Great persistence from Dango Ouattara created an opening for Rothwell, the midfielder’s effort charged down before Billing’s follow-up shot was saved by Sá.

Saša Kalajdžić, on as an 81st-minute replacement for Matheus Cunha, grabbed the winner when he rolled the ball past Neto after being teed up by Hee-Chan two minutes from time.
