Gary O'Neil has provided an injury update on the squad ahead of the weekend's game against Nottingham Forest.

The Cherries travel to the City Ground for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday afternoon, having picked up a point at home to Wolves in the week.

O'Neil started by discusses the progress of Joe Rothwell, who is yet to feature for the club, and Ben Pearson, who came off with an injury at Anfield almost a week ago.

"Joe Rothwell is certainly getting closer," he began.

"He's done some really good work in the last two weeks and it's been really good to see him on the grass with our fitness staff.

"In terms of Ben Pearson, we're not sure on his diagnosis. We'll get a clearer picture in a couple of days, but he won't make the weekend. Hopefully he's not out for too long.

"It was great to be able to have Ryan Fredericks in the squad during the week. It gave us a lot when he came on in terms of experience, pace and power.

"Luckily, everyone came through. It was a tough game, but the group are fine and ready to go for Saturday."

O'Neil continued by discussing the impact of development squad coaches Shaun Cooper and Tommy Elphick, who have joined him in the dugout since Tuesday's announcement.

The former midfielder admitted how grateful he was for their support and mentioned how he's been able to learn off former managers from his playing career.

"It's been a crazy period for me as I'm sure it is for them too," continued O'Neil.

"They've been thrust straight into it with me and they've been great. They've given everything I've needed and been a really support for me. I'm pleased I've got them right there for me when needed.

"I think, over my playing career, I've taken little bits from everyone that I've played under. I'm not sure which bits from who, but I've worked under some great managers and tried to take bits with me.

"I've been studying the coaching side for a while and I have my own thoughts and beliefs on what needs to be done."
