Jack Stephens arrived at the Cherries on transfer deadline day in September 2022.

The Cornwall-born defender progressed through the ranks at Plymouth Argyle, making his senior debut in a win over Sheffield Wednesday in September 2010.

At the Pilgrims, Stephens played alongside Cherries legend Carl Fletcher, totalling six appearances before making the move to Southampton in April 2011.

Stephens made his first-team debut for Southampton in a 2–1 FA Cup win against Coventry City in January 2012, coming on as a second-half substitute for Dan Harding.

He spent the 2013/14 and 2014/15 season on loan at League One Swindon Town, turning out 52 times.

He had further loan spells with Middlesbrough and Coventry City in 2015/16 before making his breakthrough at Southampton in 2016/17.

Originally a right-back, Stephens was converted to a centre-back during his time at St Mary’s Stadium.

He made his Premier League debut in January 2017, replacing the injured Cedric Soares in a defeat to Everton.

Stephens netted his first goal a year later, the only goal in a FA Cup win over Watford, before grabbing his first Premier League goal just four days later, an equaliser against Brighton & Hove Albion.

In total, Stephens has made 151 appearances for Southampton, with more than a century coming in the Premier League, scoring six goals.

He's also gained experience with various England youth teams, playing for the under-18s, under-19s, under-20s and under-21s, gaining eight caps for the latter.

Stephens joined AFC Bournemouth on a season-long loan in September 2022, becoming the sixth summer signing as the club returned to the Premier League.
