AFC Bournemouth confirmed the signing of defender Diego Rico from Leganes on Tuesday evening. Here, afcb.co.uk charts Rico's from Burgos to Bournemouth.

1993: Rico is born on 23rd February, in Burgos, northern Spain. The city is a historic town of nearly 200,000 people known as a transport hub as well as for its food, which include Queso de Burgos, a white soft cheese, and Morcilla de Burgo, a type of black pudding.

2000: Aged just seven, Rico joined the youth team of local club CD Burgos Promesas, and he spent over a decade with BP before moving onto his first professional club.

2011: Rico linked up with Real Zaragoza, then in La Liga, around 180 miles away and after a season with the youth team there the defender was promoted to the reserve side.

2013: Squad injuries gave Rico the chance in the Zaragoza first-team squad, and the full-back was soon making his debut in league and cup competitions - and before the end of the year Rico netted his first professional goal, against Cordoba in the Segunda Division.

2015: Three further goals, and one red card, followed over the next two Segunda Division seasons, as Rico became a near ever-present in Los Blanquillos first team.

2016: Rico made his first steps in La Liga in the summer of 2016 after signing for Leganes in the top flight. Aged 23, the full-back went straight into his new side's starting 11 and took just three games to register his first top-flight goal, getting on the scoresheet in a match away at Sporting Gijon.

2018: Last season, Rico made 33 appearances across all competitions for Leganes, scoring three goals as the side comfortably retained their La Liga status for another season.
