AFC Bournemouth will play Wrexham AFC on Saturday 20th July in Santa Barbara, California, for the first pre-season match of the Bourne in the USA summer tour.

Taking place at the 17,000-seat Harder Stadium at the UC Santa Barbara campus, the Cherries will face the Red Dragons for the first time since a League One encounter in April 2005. The friendly will see Wrexham preparing for life back in the third tier following an impressive return to the EFL this season.

Tickets will be on sale through AXS, and will be available here from 8pm UK time, Thursday 25th April.

AFC Bournemouth season ticket and points holders will have access to a pre-sale from 6pm. A purchase link and pre-sale password will be sent to supporters via email at this time.

Confirmation of this opening match follows the earlier announcement of the Cherries' first US visit since 2016, with Andoni Iraola's side heading to California for a two-week training camp in preparation for the 2024/25 Premier League season.

The playing squad will travel to the west coast of the United States on Monday 15th July, and will be based primarily at Dignity Health Sports Park, the world-class training facilities of MLS team LA Galaxy. The trip will also take in a visit to Bill Foley's stunning Hotel Californian.

“We are delighted to announce this game as we confirm our summer tour plans,” said AFC Bournemouth Chief Executive Neill Blake.

“We’re extremely excited to be bringing our team to America, and look forward to this being our opening match. It will provide a good first test for us as we look to continue building on our successes in the Premier League.

"We can’t wait to see our stateside Cherries fans, and we look forward to introducing ourselves to many more while in California.”

Fans can pre-register their interest here to receive further information on tour updates and ticket details including hospitality packages.
