Gallery: Superb Tavernier strike not enough at Luton

AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth were beaten 2-1 by Luton Town, ending an impressive run of five Premier League matches unbeaten.

The Cherries were in control in the first-half but were unable to turn their dominance into goals.

Both Marcus Tavernier and Justin Kluivert hit the woodwork as Andoni Iraola’s side were thwarted.

After going close in the opening 45 minutes, Tavernier’s persistence was rewarded in the second-half with a superb finish from outside the box, yielding his third Premier League goal of the season.

Luton were able to turn it around with Jordan Clark and Carlton Morris strikes overturning the deficit.

Six points from the Cherries’ final seven matches would set a new top-flight club record and beat the total achieved in 2016/17 when the club finished ninth in the top flight.
