Young centre-back Owen Bevan has penned a three-year contract extension with the Cherries.

Bevan’s extended deal will now keep him at Vitality Stadium until at least the summer of 2026.

Speaking to afcb.co.uk, he said: “I’m just really excited to extend my time here.

“There are big plans for the club for the future and I just hope that I can be involved in them.

“I’ve loved my time here so far. I’ve been here since I was nine years old and been all the way up through the academy.

“I’ve loved every minute of it really, working with all of the coaches, all the players, too. It’s been brilliant; I can’t wait for more.”

Having been with the Cherries from the age of nine, Bevan was made captain of the club’s under-18s in the second year of his two-year scholarship.

Successfully progressing to the development squad over the summer of 2022, the centre-back has gone on to make his Premier League and Wales under-21s debuts.

A season-long loan move to National League Yeovil Town has also added another layer of experience for the 19-year-old.

Departing having featured for the Cherries in the Carabao Cup against Norwich and the Premier League against Liverpool, Bevan has gone on to make 23 National League appearances so far this season.

“I think I’ve progressed a lot recently,” Bevan said on his experiences over the past year. “Being a captain for the under-18s really helped me improve my leadership.

“The step up into the development squad then all went smoothly, I went away with the first team a couple of times as well.

“I really enjoyed those experiences because they helped me so much.”

He added on his loan stay with Yeovil: “It’s been brilliant because playing men’s football is exactly what I need.

“It’s been competitive, there are good players in the National League, and I’ve played nearly every minute I’ve been available for.”
