AFC Bournemouth's Over 70s Walking Football squad were crowed league champions following their final game of the season.

The Cherries, supported by McCarthy Stone, have been involved in a seven-a-side league since October 2022.

The monthly fixtures have seen them play teams representing Exeter, Eastleigh, Fleet and Cove, all based at the Littledown Centre.

After months of fixtures, the Cherries needed just a point from their final game to secure the title. Despite taking the lead against Eastleigh twice, they were pegged back to a 2-2 draw, but it was still enough to finish top of the table.

Head of Community, Steve Cuss, spoke with afcb.co.uk after the final round of fixtures to express his delight.

“Congratulations to our Over 70s Walking Football team on winning the league, it's a fantastic achievement and something they should be very proud of.”
