Disability teams celebrate at end of season awards

AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

This week, AFC Bournemouth's disability teams came together at Vitality Stadium for the annual end of season awards event.

Players in attendance were from the pan-disability Ability Counts teams and the impairment specific teams, including the Cerebral Palsy, hearing impaired, Down’s Syndrome and Powerchair sides.

Celebrations included a welcome from Head of Community Steve Cuss, an end of season summary from the different coaches and a question-and-answer session with four special guests from the club's under-18s side.

Noah Crisp, Mack Allan, Harry Redknapp and Ollie Eagle answered the players questions about what it’s like being a footballer, their daily training routines and their ambitions for the future, before handing out the trophies and awards.

Amongst all the individual awards, there was also recognition for three team achievements of the season. Two awards went to the senior pan-disability teams as the senior blacks won their league and the 11-a-side team won the plate.

The third team achievement makes club history, as the Powerchair team finished third in The WFA Premiership team of the season.

Speaking after the awards evening, Head of Community Steve Cuss spoke with afcb.co.uk: “It was a special evening bringing all of our teams together to celebrate a successful season.

“Congratulations to all the players and thank you to Noah, Ollie, Mack and Harry for presenting the awards.”
