Our latest club recipe for you to try at home is our themed Halloween spider donuts

Ingredients

For the donuts

  • One cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • One teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Two tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • One egg
  • 1/3 cup + 1.5 tablespoon milk
  • One teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cooking spray
  • Piping bag or wooden spoon

For the glaze

  • Three cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk plus more if needed
  • One teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Halloween orange food colouring
  • A black food colouring gel pen can be used for black webs & spiders

Method

TO MAKE THE DONUTS

STEP 1

Preheat the oven to 180 C. Using non-stick cooking spray, spray the donut pan and set aside.

STEP 2

Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl.

In a separate small bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, butter, and vanilla extract.

STEP 3

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir together until well combined. Try not to overmix the batter.

Either spoon the batter into the donut pan or place the batter in a pipping bag. Pipe the batter into the wells of the pan filling 3/4 of the way full.

STEP 4

Bake for eight to ten minutes. Remove from the oven and allow the donuts rest for three minutes, then remove them from the pan and place them on a cooling rack.

TO MAKE THE GLAZE

STEP 1

In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk and vanilla extract. If the glaze is too thick, add additional milk half-a-teaspoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.

STEP 2

Add the orange food colouring and mix until the colour is blended well.

ASSEMBLE

STEP 1

Ensure the donuts are cool. When cool, set up a wire rack with baking paper underneath and dip each donut halfway into the icing, then place on the wire rack

STEP 2

Once the orange icing is set – draw the spider webs & spiders on
