Sam Surridge netted his second brace in two weeks as Oldham Athletic came from 3-1 down to draw at home with Colchester United.

With the hosts 2-0 down, the youngster gave his side a lifeline, poking home from close range to convert Andy Taylor’s cross.

Despite, Colchester going 3-1 up, Surridge got his side’s second of the afternoon with just five minutes to go, glancing in Dan Gardner’s free-kick.

Peter Clarke then equalised for Oldham in the dying moments to ensure the points were shared at Boundary Park.

The young striker now has seven goals in seven games for the Latics.

Brad Smith started for Seattle Sounders as they faced LA Galaxy and looked to make it ten wins in a row.

However, the Australian limped off with a hamstring strain just 17 minutes in, as his side went on to lose 3-0.

Harry Arter played the full 90 minutes, as his Cardiff City side lost 5-0 to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. It was a tough afternoon for the midfielder, who has featured in all but the opening league game for Neil Warnock’s men.

In Scotland, Mikael Ndjoli played the final six minutes as his Kilmarnock side beat champions Celtic 2-1.

Elsewhere, Connor Mahoney and Emerson Hyndman were unused substitutes for Birmingham and Hibernian respectively.
