Marcus Daws’s finely-executed goal put the finishing touches to Poole Town’s 3-1 win over Metropolitan Police at Imber Court on Tuesday.

Daws came off the bench to play his part as the Dolphins extended to six games their unbeaten run in Southern Premier South.

He replaced Jake Andrews on the hour and netted a superb individual effort to complete the scoring 13 minutes from time.

Daws ran from inside his own half and latched on to a pass from Tony Lee before outstripping the Blues defence and firing a left-foot shot across goalkeeper Liam Beach into the bottom corner.

It was his second goal of the season for Poole on his tenth appearance, Daws having scored once in nine games for the Dolphins in 2021/22.

Goals from former Cherries academy scholar Luke Pardoe and Lee gave Poole a 2-0 lead at the interval before Herson Rodrigues-Alves pulled one back from the penalty spot midway through the second half.

Victory saw the Dolphins climb to fourth place in the table with Daws having featured in five of their six unbeaten matches since returning from injury.

The Northern Ireland under-21 international, a member of the development squad at Vitality Stadium, lined up in Cherries’ Premier League Cup win over Derby County last month.
