AFC Bournemouth is saddened to learn of the passing of former groundsman Andy Press.

Andy was a beloved member of the grounds team at Vitality Stadium, where he worked until his diagnosis with Motor Neurone Disease.

Despite the tragic news, Andy committed his remaining time to raising money for the charities who helped him with his treatment.

In June, Andy raised more than £8,000 for Macmillan Caring Locally, which backs the Lindsay Bupa Care Home in Branksome, where he lived.

Andy had spent time hosting academy players at his home, with the likes of academy graduates Jaidon Anthony and Nathan Moriah-Welsh spending time living with him.

He visited the training ground earlier this year to spend time with the squad and staff, while his beloved Liverpool hosted him as a guest at Anfield in this season's Premier League game, where he met players from both teams.

His positive nature in the face of adversity was and will continue to be a great inspiration for everyone connected to the club.

Our condolences are with Andy's family and friends at this time. Supporters are encouraged to donate to Macmillan or the Motor Neurone Disease Association if they wish to show their support.
