FULL-TIME

A win for the Cherries!

Andoni Iraola will have learned a lot from his team there.

86'

WE LEAD!

We're back ahead and it is David Brooks with the goal!

Traorè played an inch perfect pass to release the Welshman, who was clean through on goal.

Under pressure, he shows great composure to slide the ball home!

84'

Great block!

Wow!

Southampton look set to be ahead there but for some heroic defending!

Neto made a sublime close-range save before a follow up effort was superbly blocked by Zabarnyi, maybe?

There's no replays here so hard to tell who got the key touches there!

82'

Almost a chance

It's been a fairly quiet 15 minutes or so, largely thanks to the wholesale changes disrupting any flow.

We have a dangerous breakaway as Hill plays in Brooks, who is in a great position in the box.

Brooks' touch is too heavy and his clipped cross just evades Moore.

77'

More changes for Bournemouth

Joe Rothwell, James Hill, Gavin Kilkenny and Ben Greenwood come on.

Lewis Cook, Ryan Christie, Milos Kerkez and Adam Smith make way.

73'

Brooks curls over

Kluivert wins the ball on the half-way line and drives forward at pace.

He comes across the box before teeing up Brooks, who takes aim for the fair corner.

His curled effort flies high and wide though.

68'

Changes for Bournemouth

A host of changes for the Cherries now:

Kluivert, Zabarnyi, Moore, Brooks and Traorè are on.

Mepham, Billing, Anthony, Solanke and Ouattara are off.

65'

GOAL - Southampton

The home side are level as Armstrong's dipping shot slips under Neto.

We've been punished for not being clinical enough in front of goal here.

63'

Ouattara header saved

The Cherries win a corner on the left and the delivery finds Ouattara unmarked in the middle.

His header has power but lacks the direction to beat McCarthy.

61'

Mass changes for Southampton

Meghoma, Caleta-Car, Stephens, Armstrong, Livramento come on.

Lyanco, Manning, Edozie, Alcararaz, Amo-Ameyaw come off.

Pre-season eh!

59'

Another chance for the Cherroes!

It's another dangerous attack and Ouattara has the opportunity to extend our lead.

Anthony does well on the left and picks out Christie, who cleverly moves the ball on to Ouattara.

He perhaps telegraphs his intentions as he opens up to use his left foot and a Southampton man does well to make the stoppage.

Ryan Christie is booked a few moments later. Not sure why.

56'

No penalty for Southampton

Moussa Djenepo thinks he should have a penalty as he goes down under Smith's challenge in the area.

There didn't appear to be much contact and James Linington is quick to wave play on.

Tempers flare up afterwards and the referee takes a moment to calm everyone down.

54'

Big chance!

Ouattara does brilliantly to win the ball inside the area and pick out Solanke in front of goal.

The pass is slightly out of Solanke's reach so he has to reach out and take a touch.

By the time he can get his shot off, Smallbone is there to make the block.

It's a huge chance and we should probably be 3-1 ahead.

50'

There is a Southampton change

No board went up but looks like there is a Southampton change as Will Smallbone appears to have replaced Romeo Lavia.

Smallbone is the cousin of our academy player Kian Tydeman!

Kyle Walker-Peters is also on for James Bree.

48'

Early corners for the Cherries

It's been a good start from the Cherries to this second half as we win back-to-back corners.

The first one is taken by Anthony and McCarthy has to stretch a palm out and divert the looping delivery behind.

The second is played towards the near post and a glancing header flies across the face of goal.

46'

Back underway!

The Cherries get this second half started.

No changes for either team at the break.

HT

In the away end!

You never know who you'll see in the away end and the Cherries fans behind the goal have had a treat tonight!

They've got the legendary Steve Fletcher and the club's President of Business Jim Frevola getting a taste of the away support.

HT

Plenty to be pleased about!

Despite the late goal, Andoni Iraola will go into the half-time break pleased with his side.

There has been lots of energy on display and the Cherries have caused problem after problem with the high press.

The Cherries were fairly ruthless in front of goal as well with two quick-fire strikes.

There's definitely fine-tuning that can be done in terms of quality on the ball and decision making but considering we're only half-way through pre-season, this is a good base to build on.

HT

HALF-TIME

The Cherries lead at the break.

43'

GOAL - Southampton

The hosts pull a goal back just before half-time.

A free-kick is sent in to the back post and Shea Charles is there to power a header beyond Neto.

After such a strong half, Iraola will be frustrated to concede that goal.

38'

Great attack from Kerkez!

Milos Kerkez is full of energy on the left flank and we've just seen some real quality from him.

He plays a clever one-two with Billing before driving into the area.

His cut-back rolls agonisingly across goal with no final touch.

35'

Big run from Senesi!

Marcos Senesi has won the ball and just continued to run with it!

The centre-back made it all the way to the Southampton area before squaring to Ouattara.

He attempts to do the right thing and find Solanke, who was to his right and in acres of space but the pass is inaccurate and Southampton can clear.

31'

Close from Anthony!

The hosts have improved in the last few minutes, finding more success playing through the Cherries' press.

However, the Cherries still come closest with a very quick break, started by Christie in his own half.

Billing strides forward across the half-way line and Ouattara receives it on the right.

He cuts inside onto his left foot and momentarily appears set to shoot but unselfishly squares for Anthony.

The winger takes a touch before firing at goal and McCarthy has to make an excellent one-handed stop to prevent it from being 3-0.

26'

Good save Neto!

Southampton have a glorious chance to get on the scoresheet.

Cook's touch in the centre of the pitch is heavy and the hosts rapidly advance with it.

The ball is played through to Adams, who shoots quickly with Mepham haring across the pitch to try and make the block.

Neto reacts well though, getting down low to his right to push the ball away from goal. It's an excellent save.

20'

Some start for the Cherries!

And breathe!

What a few minutes for the Cherries as Iraola's team fly into a two-goal lead.

Dango Ouattara opened the scoring with a pinpoint effort before Ryan Christie finished from close range a few moments later.

It's been reflective of a high-intensity display so far.

17'

A SECOND!

The Cherries are on fire here!

Anthony won the ball back and finds Solanke on the left side of the area.

He plays a dangerous ball across the face of goal and Ryan Christie is there to sweep home.

It's an electric display!

15'

WE HAVE THE LEAD!

It's the opening goal of the game and Dango Ouattara has it!

Ryan Christie clips a cross in from the right and Ouattara rises highest in the middle, directing a header into the far corner.

It was accuracy rather than power that saw that nestle in the back of the net - great header!

10'

Dango's shot saved!

So close to the opening goal!

The Cherries win the ball back in an advanced position again and this time Ouattara has the chance to aim at goal.

He's comfortably 25-yards out but he strikes the ball sweetly with his left foot and McCarthy makes a good save to his left.

We're looking very sharp!

8'

Kerkez goes close!

Southampton have the first chance of the game as a shot from the edge of the box is stopped by Neto.

The Cherries react well and go straight down the other end and force a good save.

Kerkez was the man who picked up the ball in a central position and he immediately drove forward.

As he arrived at the edge of the box, he shifted the ball onto his left and struck a powerful effort at goal.

McCarthy has to dart to his right and palm the ball behind!

5'

Christie is advanced midfielder

To answer our earlier question, Christie has lined up in the advanced midfield role with Billing in the deeper eight role.

The Cherries have caused a few problems with their high press so far.

Ouattara and Christie combined to win the ball just outside Southampton's box but the former couldn't pick out the latter with the resulting pass.

Moments later, good off-the-ball by Solanke forced Lyanco to pass the ball straight out of play.

2'

Early corner for the Cherries!

The hosts are looking to keep possession in the early stages, a hallmark of a Russell Martin team.

That allows the Cherries to put into practice our high press and we almost fashion a chance with a quick break.

Billing played the ball through to Solanke but Lyanco shepherds the ball away from the corner.

The set-piece threatens and Solanke takes a whack as he throws himself at the ball, but Southampton scramble clear.

1'

We're underway!

Southampton get this game started...

19:43

HERE THEY COME!

The two teams make their way to the pitch for this pre-season friendly!

Looks like both teams are playing in their away strip, Southampton are in black tops and silver shorts.

The Cherries are debuting our wavy blue away kit, which looks so good in person!

Kick-off is just moments away now...

19:40

Five minutes until KO

The teams are in the tunnel and the Southampton PA system is playing... The Prodigy's Spitfire.

The stadium is fairly sparse as we approach kick-off, excluding a packed out away end.

The atmosphere our fans are generating is strong, they're full of voice which is great!

The home fans do applaud new manager Russell Martin, who does a lap of the pitch ahead of the arrival of the teams.

19:35

Christie's role will be interesting!

The midfield trio tonight appears to be Lewis Cook, Philip Billing and Ryan Christie.

We're interested to see whether Billing or Christie play in the number eight role.

Billing probably is the more natural eight, given he's a more natural central midfielder.

However, his strongest role is arguably at number ten and Christie's off-the-ball work could make him a contender for a deeper role.

We'll see what Iraola decides!

19:25

Excitement over Kerkez

The Southampton PA announcer is reading out the Cherries XI and every player is receiving a big cheer from the packed out away end.

Milos Kerkez receives the biggest cheer as fans look forward to seeing him in action.

The Southampton players are duly booed by the away end, with the exception of Jack Stephens, who was a popular member of the squad last season.

19:20

Our XI today

Andoni Iraola has confirmed his XI for this evening's game and there's a first outing for Milos Kerkez in a Cherries shirt.

The left-back signed last week from AZ Alkmaar and there's a lot of excitement around the 19-year-old.

We're looking forward to seeing him in action!

19:15
