AFC Bournemouth brought down the curtain on their warm-weather training camp in Marbella with a 1-0 defeat against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Sunday.

Sayd Abu Farhi’s deflected effort four minutes from time earned the Israeli Premier League outfit victory at the Marbella Football Center.

Cherries head coach Andoni Iraola fielded no fewer than 22 different players with defender James Hill playing the full 90 minutes.

It was another good workout for Iraola’s team and a step up in opposition from their first friendly which ended with a 4-0 win over Hibernian.

Maccabi Tel Aviv are the most successful club in Israel and are managed by Republic of Ireland legend Robbie Keane who last month replaced Aitor Karanka.

Hamed Traorè went close to drawing first blood in the eighth minute when his fierce drive from 25 yards flashed narrowly past the upright.

Dango Ouattara was picked out by Justin Kluivert’s delicate hanging cross, the Burkina Faso man’s volley clearing the crossbar.

Traorè’s excellent crossfield pass found Ouattara who drew a save from a tight angle from goalkeeper Daniel Peretz at his near post.

Neto stood firm to beat away Yonatan Cohen’s 29th-minute piledriver before Eran Zahavi lifted his shot high over the crossbar.

Cohen failed to trouble Darren Randolph after taking aim from distance before an effort from Zahavi was ruled out for offside on the stroke of half-time.

A free-kick from David Brooks, one of five substitutions made by Iraola at the break, just eluded Phil Billing at the far post at the start of the second half.

Billing then mounted a promising attack only for Adam Smith to stray marginally offside before Chris Mepham made a timely interception to prevent Maccabi creating a chance.

Brooks fired wide after working an opening in the 76th minute before goalkeeper Roi Mishpati dived full length to his left to keep out Jaidon Anthony’s thunderous drive.

James Hill, impressive during the 90 minutes, made an important headed clearance to break up a Maccabi attack before a Brooks free-kick was cleared.

The deadlock was broken four minutes from time when Abu Farhi’s shot took a slight deflection off Smith and looped over Mark Travers to earn Maccabi the victory.

AFC Bournemouth: Neto (Randolph, 35, Travers, 62)), Hill, Senesi (Smith, h/t), Zabarnyi (Mepham, 62), Greenwood (Bevan, h/t), Cook (Sadi, 62), Christie (Kilkenny, h/t), Ouattara (Anthony, 62), Kluivert (Moore, 62), Traorè (Brooks, h/t), Solanke (Billing, h/t).
