The women’s development squad were crowned champions of the south west in the FA Women’s National Reserve League on Sunday, following a 3-2 victory on the road against Exeter City.

The young Cherries side found the target through Leah Harris and Maddie Rook, while an own goal from the hosts also helped them on their way.

The win sees the side take 36 points from a possible 39, having suffered just one defeat in December 2023. In addition, an impressive 79 goals were scored along the way.

The excellent performances on the pitch have also provided opportunities for players to train and play with the first team, with Elin Starck making her debut in December.

Following their title winning game, development squad manager David Staddon told afcb.co.uk: “To win a league title is a great achievement and is a result of the work the players have put in all season.

“We will continue to work hard as we conclude our league campaign next week at Cheltenham Town. We will then look forward to our cup final against Oxford United in April.”

Women’s first team manager Steve Cuss added: “Congratulations to the development squad on their outstanding achievement in winning the league. The talented group have performed consistently well throughout the season and are worthy champions.”
