AFC Bournemouth Women striker Becki Bath already has her sights set on next term following her Player of the Season, sponsored by Bournemouth University, award.
After Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Millwall at Vitality Stadium, Bath was presented her award during the post-match celebrations.
The 29-year-old forward’s accolade came following an impressive season in which she scored 15 goals in 17 league appearances, making her the joint-top scorer.
She explained to afcb.co.uk: “Personally, it’s a great achievement to be top goal scorer in the league, but there’s always room for improvement; I always want to better myself.
“As a team, it was our first season in the National League and it’s been a great experience.
“We were unlucky not to achieve promotion but to finish second in our first season in the National League, we couldn’t be happier.
“It’s something for us to progress on next season.”
Steve Cuss’ side finished runner-up to Cheltenham Town in the National League Division One South West this term, meaning Bath is keen to go one better next term.
“Promotion will always be the goal, especially when it was so close,” she said.
“We want to feel the promotion feeling and we want to feel how the guys are feeling. The goal is definitely promotion and we’re going to work so hard for it.”
With the award coming as part of the men’s team’s promotion celebrations, the striker felt it was an experience to remember at Vitality Stadium.
Bath stated: “We only got told at our awards ceremony that there was another award, but it didn’t ever cross my mind that it would be me. I’m so thankful to everyone at the club.
“It was quite surreal, to be honest. Obviously, the guys got promoted into the Premier League, which is unreal.
“It was just so surreal; I can’t quite believe that I was there but it was a great experience. I’m so thankful to everyone at the club who made that happen for the women’s team.”
