Duo pick up end of season awards

AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth Women rounded off their season with an inter-squad friendly at Vitality Stadium last night.

The evening was an opportunity for members of the first team and development squad to enjoy competing against one another on the main pitch.

Following the game, which finished with a 4-4 scoreline, Steve Cuss and his staff handed out their end of season awards on the pitch, with no ceremony set to take place this year due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Molly Clark picked up the Players’ Player of the Season accolade to round off a fine first campaign in red and black.

Her 19 goals helped the side to the first round proper of the FA Cup for just the second time in history, as well as a Subsidiary Cup semi-final, which ended in a penalty shootout defeat to Moneyfields last week.

Maisy Smith was awarded the Manager’s Player of the Season after another superb year.

The centre-back’s commitment off the field, combined with her versatility on the field didn’t go unnoticed, as Cuss handed out the award with friends and family watching on.

As for the development squad, Grace Morgan won the Players’ Player award, while Ria Hall picked up the Manager’s Player of the Season.

Dave Staddon’s side have one fixture remaining, as they compete for the Subsidiary Plate in this Sunday’s final.
