AFC Bournemouth Women's manager Steve Cuss was delighted with the way his side pulled through to progress in the FA Cup this afternoon.
Penalties were needed to decide a winner, after the game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes.
With some strong spot-kicks from both sides, Katie Scadding was the hero with the winning save for the Cherries, sending her side through to the Second Qualifying Round.
Following the game, Cuss spoke on the following topics to afcb.co.uk...
The performance
"Ultimately, I'm really pleased to get through in the tie. Moneyfields is a difficult place to come and they're a good side.
"I felt that our performance deserved the victory. We dominated possession without really creating any clear-cut chances apart from one in injury time where their goalkeeper made a magnificent save.
"At 1-0 you're always a bit worried and that's what showed today. We got caught out a little bit with a ball in behind and a great finish to level it up.
"It then went to penalties and, fair play to girls, they kept their cool and got us through."
The penalties
"I knew that, with the competition, it would go straight to penalties if the game ended level.
"In the training sessions beforehand, I thought long and hard about practicing them but I don't think there's any practice that could've replicated the situation that comes up.
"When I've been in this situation before as a manager, I've always asked players to put their hands up and we had six or seven do that, so I selected the five from those.
"Fair play to those who stepped up and took them because it's a pressure situation.
"A special mention has to go to Katie Scadding. She got her hand to one, it came back off the post and it was a great save. It ultimately won us the tie."
The FA Cup
"We're desperately keen to do well in the FA Cup.
"We've said it before, but we've now won three matches in the FA Cup this season and we're absolutely delighted with that.
"It gives it that stature and it's nice for the players as well. You want to get that big tie and we've got that next week with Southampton Women.
"We got knocked out by them last year. They're a really good side, we know each other well, but we go there off the back of three wins so we'll be full of confidence and give it our best shot."
The start to the season
"I think we've dominated possession in all three games, perhaps not so much today but I think we played really good quality opposition this afternoon, as well as facing a goalkeeper in fine form.
"I've been really pleased with the young players that we've brought through and it's been a good mix with our new signings, so we're just finding our way of playing.
"We don't want to keep going on about it, but until a few weeks ago we hadn't played for some time. We had seven months without a game - that's a long time for players to come back and adjust. Of course, it's been the same for everyone.
"The league is still our focus and we want to get started on that as soon as possible, but the FA Cup means so much and we want that run as well."
