Lucy Cooper vowed the AFC Bournemouth women’s team would “keep pushing forward” in a bid to achieve their goals this season.

The striker netted the second goal of the game with a neat finish as Steve Cuss’s side sealed a 3-1 victory at Keynsham on Sunday.

Success meant the Cherries had won 11 of their 12 league games this campaign, their only draw came against league leaders Exeter City.

Speaking to afcb.co.uk after the game, Cooper said: “We’re chuffed. Whenever we go into a game, we’re only focused on the game this week, we’re not looking too far in the future.

“If that means going to rainy Keynsham just to get the three points, then that’s what we will do.

“We’re going to keep pushing forward. We have our goals set. We have an end target and we are working towards that.

“Every game, no matter the environment, we have the same mentality. We are going to push hard, work hard and we are going to win.

“If that means running round in the cold and the wet then that’s what’s got to be done.”

Cooper’s strike was her 15th of the season, having added to Molly Barron-Clark’s opener. Amber Treweek scored the third for the Cherries in second-half stoppage time.

“When we came here, we knew all that mattered was the three points to continue our journey throughout the season,” said Cooper.

“It was a tough game. I thought we stated really well, played some good football and scored some good goals.

“They started coming back into it, especially in the second half. We had to dig in but we got the three points, so I’m happy.”

AFC Bournemouth women are also in action at Vitality Stadium against Keynsham on Sunday, March 24th. You can book tickets and select your seat here.
