AFC Bournemouth midfielder, Molly Clark, was last week voted as the best women’s beach soccer player in the world.

She was invited to the prestigious ceremony in the UAE to receive the award, after the shortlist of 30 was reduced to just three players.

It was the second time that Clark had been nominated for the award, but Russian Marina Federova came away with the accolade in 2018.

The 30-year-old is a familiar face in the beach soccer world, having won a silver medal with Team GB at the inaugural World Beach Games in 2019.

She’s also represented England at the European Championships and has played in the Euro Beach League, most recently heading out to Nazare in Portugal to compete.

Having had a whirlwind weekend, Clark landed back on British soil on Sunday morning, heading straight from the airport to Essex to play in the Cherries’ National League Cup game away at Hashtag United.

AFC Bournemouth women’s team manager, Steve Cuss, spoke with afcb.co.uk about the dedication Clark has shown and discussed how proud he was to hear of her beach soccer success.

“Myself as the manager, the assistant manager and all the players were so proud of Molly for winning that award.

“It’s something that she works really hard at and she trains really hard. She thoroughly deserves all the accolades that she gets.

“For her to go to Dubai on Saturday night and get back to play our game on Sunday shows unbelievable commitment that she puts into playing for AFC Bournemouth.

“We’re delighted as a group and the girls were all delighted to see her on Sunday. They all signed a card for her and we were all following it the night before when the results were being given out, so we’re all absolutely thrilled for Molly.”
