AFC Bournemouth women are delighted to announce the signing of Ellie Butler from Stourbridge.

The forward joins the club on a deal until the end of the season.

Butler, who can operate on either wing as well as centrally, has experience of playing in the Women’s Championship with Coventry United.

The former Oxford United player was also part of the Wolverhampton Wanderers squad to win the Women’s National League Northern Premier Division in 2022.

Women’s manager Steve Cuss told afcb.co.uk: “I’m absolutely delighted to get Ellie in. A player full of experience at a higher level and had good success at higher levels as well.

“She joins us for the rest of the season and it’s a good signing for us in terms of adding even more options in the attacking areas.

“She played in the Championship at Coventry and was part of the title-winning squad at tier three for Wolves as well. That experience and that title run-in experience will be vital to us.”

Butler is set to be part of the Cherries squad to travel to Maidenhead United on Sunday (2pm kick-off).

The Cherries are nine points behind league leaders Exeter City in the National League South, with three fixtures in hand on their opponents.

Cuss added: “As we have to play a number of fixtures in a fairly short space of time, it will add some real quality to us.

“We are really pleased Ellie can play a lot of different positions. That is important when you are looking to select teams when we are playing a lot of games in a short space of time.”

AFC Bournemouth women are in action at Vitality Stadium against Keynsham Town Ladies on Sunday, March 24th. You can book tickets and select your seat here.
