AFC Bournemouth are delighted to announce the signing of Amber Treweek ahead of the second half of the season.

The centre-back will link up with her sister, Jess, who also put pen to paper with the Cherries in the summer and will aim to help Steve Cuss' side in their push for promotion from the National League.

Treweek joins from UNC Charlotte, a university in South Carolina, while she also has previous experience playing under the club's Community Sports Trust setup, representing the under-14 and under-16 girls before leaving for America.

She has already played her first minutes in red and black, helping the Cherries to a 3-2 away win over Maidenhead United on Sunday, bagging the assist for the side's 87th minute winner from Beth Everson.

After signing for the club, afcb.co.uk sat down with Treweek, who expressed her excitement at being back at her hometown club.

"I'm super excited as I've supported this team ever since I was young and it's really great to be a part of a programme that's developing every day. It's my childhood team and, with everything that's going on with the whole club right now, it's a great opportunity to take that next step in my career and push myself further. I think this is definitely the environment to do it.

"The family are excited as it means that they can come to both of our games and not miss one of us playing. They're happy and I think she's happy to, so I can't really complain.

"I've been training since Christmas and it's been really been great. The girls are all so welcoming and the training sessions are so good with the way they're structured - you get out of it as much as you put in. Every girl works their socks off in every session, so it's a good place for developing."

Cuss also shared his thoughts after securing the signature of Treweek last week.

"We've known about Amber and her footballing ability for a long time through junior football. She went off to America to further her education and her football pathway which has been good for her, but she's back now and it's great that she's decided to sign for us.

"We got her involved against Maidenhead as well and it's great to see her qualities. She's strong defensively and good with the ball. She played a vital part in creating our winning goal with her cross from the left-hand side, so we're delighted to have her in the squad and adding competition for places."

The women are next in action at Ringwood Town FC this Sunday as they take on Keynsham Town. Kick-off is 2pm and entry is FREE
