AFC Bournemouth under-18s' striker Daniel Adu-Adjei shared that off-the-field discussion was key to his ‘partnership’ Michael Dacosta Gonzalez.

Heading into Saturday’s clash with Portsmouth at the Cams Alders Stadium (11am kick-off), the two forwards are already off the mark for the season.

A goal each in the opening game of the season saw off Exeter City, with Adu-Adjei assisting Dacosta Gonzalez’s goal.

Speaking on himself and his forward partner, Adu-Adjei told afcb.co.uk: “We talk a lot off the pitch about how we can combine and use each other.

“We play together quite a lot with him being a right-winger and me being a striker, so we discuss how we can get the most from our partnership.”

Despite the duo being amongst the goals in their last outing, the striker still felt there was more to come from the team.

“We were looking forward to the game and were lucky enough to get the win but there is so much more to come from us,” said Adu-Adjei.

“We knew that we could have had a much better performance against Exeter, but it was still good to get the win and the clean sheet.

“We were expecting a good game against them because we played them a lot last season and, although we came out on top most of the time, they’re always good games.”

Ahead of the second game of the season, Adu-Adjei was expecting another tough test for Alan Connell’s team with the trip to Pompey.

He said: “It’s going to be another tough game. Last season, we had two tough games against them, they were both really tight. We’re looking forward to it.”

Supporters can attend the under-18s’ fixture with Portsmouth at Fareham Town’s Cams Alders Stadium, with entry free of charge.
