Global Cherries: Fans gather in Orlando

As the Cherries took on Nottingham Forest in our most recent Premier League match, a group of supporters gathered in Orlando to watch the game on big screens. The event was part of the Premier League's latest Fan Fest in the United States and David Cordell pens a blog to summarise the experience.

20 or so supporters from all over Florida, New York State and Virginia gathered to watch the mighty Cherries take on Nottingham Forest. We weren’t the biggest group in the 10,000 Premier League fans who were there but we were loud and we made it into the highlight reel on NBC.

There were lots of activities including temporary tattoo stations, photos with the Premier League Trophy and free printing on jerseys entertained the crowds. Former Cherries defender Gary Cahill and Premier League legend Alan Shearer flew over from England as special guests.

Then at 10am we gathered at one of the big screens, and with the Forest fans behind us, celebrated as we scored. Dango Ouattara had made an immediate impact and assisted Jaidon Anthony for the opening goal.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t hang on and had to listen to the cheers of those behind us and the Tricky Trees had their turn to celebrate.

While a win would have been better, it was great for Cherries fans to gather together to watch the game. We got to see an entertaining match in the great centre of entertainment that Orlando offers.

These events really help promote the club and the Premier League in the USA and hopefully we can grow our fan base with additional promotion. The mascots even had their own football game and were a big hit with all the fans.

If you happen to be in the States during the next Fan Fest, please get in contact and we’ll help make sure you can attend.

Now a request from your fans across the pond: Get behind the team. Rome wasn’t built in a day but as AFCB fans we’ve never ever had it so good. It’s time to shock the world. UTCIAD.
