AFC Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola says that Hamed Traorè will be out for “some time” after a spell in hospital with Malaria.

The Ivorian international will miss the African Cup of Nations due to his ill health and will continue to undergo further medical tests.

Encouragingly, he has been sent home to recover from the disease and Iraola said: “Right now, he is recovering much better.

“The past few weeks have been a tough situation for him personally and from a sporting perspective, he will be out for some time.

“We have to make sure that he is OK and he recovers properly, he will be out for some time.”

Besides the news about Traorè, the Cherries squad is in good shape ahead of the fixture with Tottenham Hotspur.

Iraola is hoping to have midfielder Lewis Cook available after he suffered a groin injury in the 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest but can’t guarantee if he’ll feature at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“We are not changing a lot of players at the moment but the one that could recover is Lewis Cook," he continued.

“It could happen, I don’t know though, it’s not a guarantee.

“We have to see if he can train with us ahead of the game.”
