Eddie Howe revealed his concerns on midfielder Dan Gosling ahead of Tuesday night’s match with Huddersfield Town at Vitality Stadium.

The midfielder was also a doubt at Manchester City at the weekend and didn’t make the bench after warming up ahead of the game.

“Dan Gosling is a concern for us,” he said in his pre-match press conference. “We've sent him away for a scan on his knee so we'll see how he is. He didn't feel comfortable during the warm up at the weekend."

“We have a couple of niggles. You’re always going to have a few niggles at this time of the season, so we’ll see how those guys are.”

A positive comes from fellow midfielder Jefferson Lerma returning to the squad after serving his one-match suspension at the weekend.

Tyrone Mings provides another option, the centre-back coming in for his first start of the season away at the Etihad in a rejigged backline, moving to a back three against the champions. Howe was pleased with the options provided by both the shape and the former Ipswich defender.

“We’re always open and every game is unique in the Premier League,” said the manager on his approach with the formation.

“The key thing is how you train and prepare.

“Tyrone’s had his injury problems since he’s been with us but he had a very good pre-season has waited for his opportunity and I was really pleased with how he performed.”
