AFC Bournemouth head coach Gary O’Neil confirmed Antoine Semenyo had successfully undergone surgery to a shin injury.

Semenyo, who joined the Cherries from Bristol City in January, has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference today, O’Neil said he hoped the frontman would be ready to return in pre-season.

Semenyo has featured 11 times in the Premier League this season and netted his maiden top-flight goal in the Cherries’ 4-1 win over Leeds last month.

O’Neil told the media: “Antoine has had surgery so he will be out until next season.

“We’re hopeful he gets back and can have a decent little spell with the team before the season starts but it will depend on how quickly he recovers.

“Everything went well and we’re hoping he has a speedy recover because he can be a big help again for us next season.”

O’Neil also confirmed Hamed Traorè had “trained fully nearly all week but will not be involved tomorrow”.

Traorè this week signed permanently for the Cherries from Serie A outfit Sassuolo and O’Neil said he was hopeful the Ivorian would “get some minutes” against Everton.

O’Neil also said Jefferson Lerma would probably wear a face mask to protect his nose against Manchester United tomorrow.

The Colombia international sustained a broken nose when he appeared to be struck in the face by Crystal Palace’s Joachim Andersen last week.
