Goalkeeper Andrei Radu is the latest arrival at Vitality Stadium, signing on a season-long loan deal from Italian side Inter Milan.

A talented shot-stopper, Radu has made the move to England to provide competition to Neto and Darren Randolph throughout the 2023/24 campaign.

Born in Bucharest, the Romanian relocated to Italy as a youngster to play for Pergolettese, soon getting signed by Inter Milan.

He made his senior debut for the historic side, coming on for Juan Pablo Carrizo as a substitute in a defeat to Sassuolo in May 2016.

Radu spent the 2017/18 season on loan at Serie B side Avellino, playing 24 times. The deal could have been made permanent but Avellino was excluded from the league at the conclusion of the season following the submission of late paperwork.

Aged 21, he joined Serie A Genoa on a season-long loan, which was automatically made permanent at the end of 2018/19.

Radu quickly established himself as first-choice goalkeeper, keeping a clean sheet in his debut and turning out 33 times.

His performances earned him recognition in UEFA’s top 50 young footballers to watch in 2019 and he was the recipient of Romania’s Footballer of the Year award. The same year, Radu had captained Romania under-21s to the semi-finals of the UEFA European Championship.

When his loan was made permanent in June 2019, Inter Milan instantly re-purchased the shot-stopper, agreeing a further loan with Genoa.

He made 19 further appearances before spending the second half of 2019/20 at Parma, but he didn’t make an appearance during his time at Stadio Ennio Tardini.

Radu was utilised as back-up goalkeeper at Inter through 2020/21 and 2021/22, helping the side win Serie A for the first time in 11 years during the former campaign.

During those seasons, Radu established himself in the Romania team, making his international debut in a 1-1 draw with Finland.

Last season, Radu earned more valuable experience with two loan spells, the first of which was with Italian side Cremonese, playing ten times.

In January 2023, Radu joined French side Auxerre, impressing over 17 games despite the team being relegated from Ligue 1.

He now joins the Cherries on a season-long loan deal with the club holding the option to make the move permanent.
