Interim head coach Gary O’Neil was delighted to see the “huge improvements” continue as AFC Bournemouth completed a quickfire double over Everton.
A 3-0 victory in the Premier League on Saturday came just four days after the Cherries had registered a 4-1 win over the Toffees in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
The games followed back-to-back defeats in the top flight against Tottenham and Leeds United when the Cherries squandered two-goal leads and went down 3-2 and 4-3, respectively.
Goals from Marcus Tavernier, Kieffer Moore and Jaidon Anthony saw the Cherries triumph at Vitality Stadium on Saturday, taking them to 16 points from 15 games ahead of the World Cup finals break.
O’Neil said: “We managed to maintain it for the 90 minutes, which was good. It looked similar to Spurs and Leeds but they only lasted 60 minutes.
“We did a lot of work this week on how you see out a game of football when you’re in front and what it takes. We saw huge improvements, as we did on Tuesday with a different team.
“It was good to take the lead twice in the past two games and see them out so comfortably. It’s nice when you’ve worked so hard on something and you are rewarded.
“We were very good with and without the ball, we were well organised and the lads showed heart and determination.
“We were resilient, we put bodies on the line when we needed to and showed really quality when we could.
“We spoke before the game about getting to 16 points by the break and it being massive for everybody involved. The lads deserve at least 16 points for what they’ve put in and they’ve been incredible.”
