AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has spoken of his delight following the Cherries’ 4-0 win over Huddersfield Town at Vitality Stadium.

Callum Wilson’s hat-trick was the highlight of a memorable afternoon, whilst Harry Arter also netted his first of the season to add to the win.

Here’s what the boss had to say following the win, as his side moved up to 13th in the Premier League.

On the performance…

I’m very pleased with the performance and the players. We made a really strong start to the game, it was difficult in the early stages, but the first goal was a turning point. The incident on half-time, changed the game from us and we managed the period after that and until our third goal really well.

It was an interesting half-time, we were able to set our game plan out. They also had half-time to implement what they wanted to do.

They set out the second half as they wanted to and one goal would have changed the game. The two centre halves were excellent and protected the ‘keeper really well.

On Callum Wilson…

I’m really pleased for him on an individual level. I’ve been there myself with a serious injury, it’s a hard place to come back from.

He’d scored his first hat-trick soon after we got into the Premier League and he must have felt like he had the world at his feet. Then that changed instantly. He’s worked incredibly hard on his body to get back to where he is.

For me, I’m happy that he’s looking so good and scoring goals in our team. If he carries on in this form today, as he also showed against Newcastle, it’s in his hands to make the England squad for the World Cup.

He’s looked so good in training with no limp and he looked smooth, his pace was there. It’s been a really good afternoon for him.

On the red card…

To be honest, I don’t remember the first one. The second foul, unfortunately, it was a booking but I was half hoping he may get away with it because the referee didn’t blow immediately.

The referee then consulted the fourth official and made the right call.

On Harry Arter’s goal…

It was nice to see Harry score today. Having his World Cup dream over, it was difficult to take for him but I’m really pleased for him individually.

Harry is an experienced player. If he was younger and we haven’t shared the experiences that we have then it may be different, but I had no doubts in playing him today. He’s come through a lot and so he was more than capable of playing today.

It was good to see him get a goal, although he and Andrew Surman in
