AFC Bournemouth maintained their promotion push with a 3-1 victory over play-off hopefuls Middlesbrough at Vitality Stadium.

Phil Billing paved the way for a second successive win over a fellow high-flier as the Cherries followed up their 3-0 triumph against Swansea.

Billing’s finely-taken 14th-minute effort separated the teams at the break with Duncan Watmore levelling for Boro midway through the second half.

However, just four minutes after Watmore had equalised in the 63rd minute, the Cherries regained the lead through a deflected strike from Jefferson Lerma.

Dominic Solanke, who turned in a tireless display up front, was rewarded for his efforts with a goal seven minutes from time.

It capped a great day for Cherries head coach Jonathan Woodgate against the club he served both as a player and manager.
