Jack Wadham admitted he was “buzzing” to see his wonder strike nestle in the top corner, after he hit the headlines for loan club Worthing this week.

The midfielder sent a virtually unstoppable shot into the net from around 30 yards out, to earn the Rebels a 1-0 victory at Chelmsford City in National South.

Wadham ran to celebrate with the club’s fans following the stunning effort, a moment he declared as “the best feeling ever”.

He told afcb.co.uk: “It was right near the end of the game and it was a tight game. We needed something and it just fell to me from the corner.

“I just wanted to get a good strike on it and I did! I just saw it going straight for the top corner and I was buzzing.

“People were asking ‘did you know it was going in as soon as you hit it?’ I didn’t but I was just waiting for it to nestle in the top corner.

“It was just mad. I just ran straight to the fans and was buzzing. It’s the best feeling ever.

“I don’t get it often. I don’t score many goals but it was unbelievable. It brings you closer to the fans and hopefully there will be more moments like that.”

The strike has gained tens of thousands of likes on social media across a number of different outlets.

Asked what his phone had been like over the past two days, Wadham replied: “A lot of notifications! But I don’t want to get too carried away with all that really and just focus on the next game.

“I have been there a month or two now and it’s been really good. I’ve played a lot of games and got a lot of minutes, I am enjoying it.

“Hopefully we can push on, get in the play-offs and do well there.”
