Back in Bournemouth, young full-back Charlie Seaman is looking forward to the campaign ahead after signing a one-year contract extension with the Cherries.
It comes after the 19-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Scottish Championship club, Dundee United.
Seaman experienced his first taste of men’s football while with the Terrors and spoke to afcb.co.uk about his time north of the border.
“At first it was quite different,” he began.
“For my first match, I’d never played with the boys and got thrown straight into a game having barely met them, so it was hard. They made me really welcome and it was easy to get into the swing of training.
“I think my physical attributes helped me on the pitch. I played against older and bigger men, but the way I played at Bournemouth helped me there in that I was trying to get the ball moving.
“There were boys there that have played 300 games in both Scotland and England and it was great to learn from them. Some are so experienced and it was good to play alongside them.”
While featuring for United, Seaman may have been far from home, but did speak of touching base with some familiar faces.
“I spoke to Fletch [Carl Fletcher] a lot. He came up to Dundee a few times to see me and find out how I was getting on,” he continued.
“It was good to see him, as he’s been a big part of my time at Bournemouth, being my coach for large parts of the last three years.
“I played a game when he was up there, so it was good to have his take on how I played and hear his side of things.
“I spoke to Coops [Shaun Cooper] while I was up there too just to let him know how I was doing.”
And with the season ahead approaching, Seaman is eager to get going.
“I’m excited to start a new campaign with the boys, and just see what I can do and achieve over the next year.
“Hopefully I’ll just be able to get more experience in men’s football now, just improve as a player and show what I can do.”
