The Flying Eagles got off to a flyer at the Under-20s World Cup as Nnamdi Ofoborh's Nigeria claimed a 4-0 win over Qatar to start their campaign.
Cherries midfielder Ofoborh was an 82nd-minute substitute as his side top their group after the first round of group matches, with the 20-year-old looking to walk in the footsteps of team-mates Lewis Cook and Dominic Solanke, who were winners of the competition two years ago with England.
In front of over 3,000 fans, there was a fast start in Tychy, Poland, with Nigeria two goals up inside the first 24 minutes through Maxwell Effiom and Okechukwa Offia. Manchester City's Tom Dele-Bashiru made it three after the break before Aliu Salawudeen rounded off the scoring.
Ahead of the tournament, Ofoborh spoke with afcb.co.uk about his desire to show the world what he could do in the international tournament.
Elsewhere in the group, Ukraine beat USA 2-1, meaning that Nigeria currently top the standings on goal difference.
The Flying Eagles will next take on USA in Bielsko-Biala, the game kicking-off at 7:30pm (UK time) on Monday evening.
