Shaun Cooper's development squad produced a stunning late fightback to earn a 2-2 draw against Southampton at Vitality Stadium.
The Cherries needed a positive result from their final Premier League Cup game to keep their qualification hopes alive and two goals by Jake Scrimshaw in the final ten minutes secured a point.
Southampton put themselves into a deserved lead following goals by Kazeem Olaigbe and Thierry Small.
However, Scrimshaw tucked home from Marcus Daws's excellent cross in the 80th minute to give the Cherries hope.
And the forward added to his contribution, winning a penalty just two minutes later and stepping up himself to squeeze into the back of the net.
