Alex Dobre netted twice to help AFC Bournemouth under-21s overcome Oxford United 4-1 in a friendly and then said: “I need to be one of the best.”
Dobre opened the scoring with a thunderous volley to pave the way for victory in the seventh minute at The Oxford United Sports Ground yesterday.
Another fine finish from the Romanian winger added to Tom Dinsmore’s spectacular 30-yarder before Jake Scrimshaw bagged a deserved fourth goal late on.
Dobre told afcb.co.uk: “It was a very good game for us because it was a chance for us to work on our patterns and we did that well throughout the game.
“We put pressure on them all game and, therefore, we scored four goals. We controlled the tempo and the boys did their jobs very well.
“I’m happy because I scored two goals and helped the team win.
“This is what I need to do if I want to get into the first team. I need to be one of the best and need to score every time and help my team how I can.”
Shaun Cooper’s side face Stoke City in their second group game in the Premier League Cup at Vitality Stadium on Friday 8th November.
Dobre added: “It’s a very good competition where you can show what you’re capable of especially if you play at home.”
