AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust are delighted to announce our Community Champions from the men’s and women’s teams.

This award is given to a player who has supported community work throughout the season.

Holly Humphreys has picked up the award for the women's team and Neto for the men’s team - both in their debut seasons at the club.

Humphreys was awarded this following her commitment to give back to community activity. Having come through the girls' and women’s pathway, as she joined at nine years old, Holly knows the importance of having role models and inspiring younger players.

She has attended various community activities, specifically for girls including the Bournemouth University girls' football festival at Vitality Stadium, the Premier League Primary Stars under-11s girls' tournament at Ringwood Community Hub and she took part in a Q&A session with a touring group of under-18 girls from South Africa.

Amongst other attendances, Humphreys has also supported the club’s charity partners and local organisations including attending the Isabel Baker Foundation event and wrapping Christmas presents as part of the Ukraine Relief’s holiday activity.

Since joining the Cherries last summer, Neto has made several important visits within the local community including a visit to local care home Castle Dene as part of the Care South partnership. He spent to afternoon playing chair football with the residents, as well as sharing football memories and catching up on AFC Bournemouth news with the latest matchday programme.

Neto also supported national campaigns including World Mental Health Day, where he spoke to a group of Premier League Inspires students as they visited Vitality Stadium, and International Women’s Day when the club's under-12 girls were invited in for lunch with the first-team squad.

Speaking about their contribution, head of community Steve Cuss told afcb.co.uk, “I would like to say thank you to all the players for their support of community activities this season.

“Holly and Neto were both fantastic ambassadors and are worthy winners of the award.”
