Local children from the Blandford School and the Grange School in Christchurch worked with our Community Sports Trust on a sustainability project this weekend, as part of the Premier League Inspires challenge project.

The kids, aged between 13 and 14, took part in a bottle swap initiative in the Fan Zone before the match and, alongside the Community Sports Trust and Coca Cola, cleaned up the stadium after the game with the club's Green Team.

The Cherries defeated Derby County 2-0 at Vitality Stadium, with Dominic Solanke and Jamal Lowe getting the goals.

The children, who came to the club with the offer of support, then watched the match with complimentary tickets.

The involvement of the school children went a long way to achieving the goals set out in the sustainability project brief.

Following the weekend, AFC Bournemouth's head of community Steve Cuss spoke with afcb.co.uk about the project and the involvement of the kids.

“We were pleased to welcome the children from both schools to the game on Saturday, following their work and planning on a sustainable project, which looked at reducing single use plastic and recycling.

“Congratulations and thank you to both schools for their efforts throughout the Premier League Inspires challenge.”
