Another busy weekend for AFC Bournemouth girls saw all four teams in action.

The youngest Cherries age group, the under-10s hosted Mudeford at Bournemouth School for Girls in their first fixture of 2019.

The AFC Bournemouth team did well on the ball, as they tried to play through the lines using a range of different passes.

An excellent solo goal from Faye, a good long-distance strike from Tilly and an individual contribution from Charley were the only Cherries goals on this occasion.

Meanwhile, the under-12 girls returned to winning ways with a 6-0 win away at KBS Youth.

Amelia impressed on her debut, scoring a second-half hat-trick to ensure the Cherries took all three points from the game.

Holly scored first for the Cherries, as she ran the length of the pitch following a KBS corner, to finish expertly to put the Cherries ahead.

Before the half-time whistle, Izzy doubled the Cherries lead with a sweet first-time finish, as she got on the end of a cross from Amelia.

AFC Bournemouth’s dominance continued into the second half, as the final goal of the game was scored through an individual effort from Zara.

The under-14 girls also picked up all three points, as they secured an 8-0 victory over Worthys.

In their first game of 2019, the Cherries worked hard and played with good tempo throughout the opening period of the game.

The side were able to take the lead through Lucy who flicked the ball goalward in the opening minutes, with the scoreline quickly doubled as Freya powered a header home from six yards.

Aimee scored the Cherries’ third and final goal of the half, with a well-timed shot into the corner of the net.

The second half continued in a similar fashion, as the AFC Bournemouth free-flowing football allowed the side to create and finish more goal-scoring chances.

Second-half substitute Elle made an immediate impact with a cool finish, before Sophie D. and Hannah H. both netted twice to finish the game.

Although the strikers were busy, the defence and goalkeeper, Orlaith, worked hard to play out well to maintain a clean sheet to cap off an all round good performance.

In the final game of the weekend, AFC Bournemouth under-16 girls exited the Surrey FA Cup following a 2-1 defeat to AFC Wimbledon.

The opening 20 minutes saw AFC Bournemouth under-pressure from the organised opposition, who scored first from a set-play.

As the game progressed the Cherries started to play better football, and good link up play between Grace M. and Be-Be created chances which saw the Cherries nearly level the score twice, however it was not to be and at half-time the game still saw Wimbledon leading.

In the second half, AFC Bournemouth started to push Wimbledon deep into their own half, with Grace M. and Larrisa both going close.

Wimbledon then sprang a quick counter-attack that ended in a well-worked goal, putting them 2-0 up.

Despite being two goals behind, the Cherries continued to put pressure on Wimbledon and the whole team started to combine well. From one of these passages of play, Liv P. played a lovely through ball that split the defence as Be-Be went clear on goal, only to be taken down by the recovering defender.

The referee awarded a free-kick from just outside the 18-yard box, which was put just wide by Be-Be.

However, a consolation goal was scored by the Cherries, as Lucy scored from Lily H’s cross right at the death.
