Female football players will be able to make the most of their talents, thanks to an exciting new partnership between AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust and Brockenhurst College, starting in the new 2018/19 academic year.

The new initiative will offer talented female players the opportunity to study, train and play!

Students on the programme will have the opportunity to study BTEC Diploma in Sport or a variety of A level courses at the college in the New Forest, whilst training every day and representing AFC Bournemouth in weekly fixtures.

Following the partnership, head of community Steve Cuss shared his excitement with afcb.co.uk.

"The programme offers an opportunity for talented aspiring footballers to study full-time whilst representing the club on a weekly basis," he began.

"It will allow players to play for their current clubs, although given our engagement with players we would hope that many will progress into our existing ladies teams, and we expect many students to come through our current female youth teams.

"This exciting programme allows the female pathway that we offer to expand, ultimately enhancing the playing opportunities afforded to our players."

Clare Hicks of Brockenhurst College also commented.

"We are delighted to be involved in this programme and are excited to offer the up and coming female players in the area an excellent education alongside their Club football provision."

An open evening for aspiring female players will be held at AFC Bournemouth on Monday 23rd April from 6.30pm, with trials due to take place at Brockenhurst College on Saturday 5th May (10am–12pm) and Monday 14th May (6.30pm-8pm).

To register your interest or for further information please contact Andrew Battison of the AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust via [email protected] or 07887 384762.
