AFC Bournemouth’s Community Sports Trust has been supporting Black History Month throughout October.
Workshops took place at Vitality Stadium with participants from the Premier League Kicks sessions, with 12 young people involved.
Part of the workshop included a closer look at some of the influential black players to represent AFC Bournemouth, most notable current left-back Jordan Zemura, club legend Ian Cox and Eddie Parris, the club’s first black player.
The children learned more about each of their careers and even got to hear from Cox himself, as he discussed leading the Cherries out at Wembley and his current role at the club.
After spending some time indoors, the participants then headed out to the 3G pitches at Vitality Stadium for a football tournament to end the day.
In addition to the event held at Vitality Stadium, the Community Sports Trust also delivered the Trailblazers workshop at three local secondary schools, which reached over 100 pupils across seven sessions, during the month as part of the Premier League Inspires project.
Now nearing the end of the month, Head of Community, Steve Cuss, spoke about Black History Month.
