AFC Business last night hosted its annual Directors’ Dinner at Vitality Stadium.

Sponsored by Mansion, guests were treated to a glass of champagne on arrival, before networking opportunities arose with fellow businessmen and women.

After being seated, the highly renowned Caspar Berry, who was AFC Business’ guest speaker on the night, gave an enthralling presentation which used the metaphor of poker to inspire the crowd and take a fresh look at the way to approach risk and decision making.

It was then onto a three-course meal for the 128 guests, which included representatives from main sponsors Vitality, Strategic Solutions and Hill Osborne and Travel Counsellors.

Following the dinner, a business card draw saw Liz Willingham of Liz Lean PR win two hospitality tickets for the upcoming Carabao Cup clash with Middlesbrough, whilst Laura Fascione from Vitality won a BMW of her choice for the weekend, courtesy of Marshall BMW.

As the evening drew to a close, there was still time for a question and answer session with Berry, who provided interesting insights into the concept of luck, as well as his life to date.

The final activity allowed for the guests to try their hand at poker, with tables set up at the end of the room offering non-competitive rounds.

Following the evening, afcbTV caught up with Chairman Jeff Mostyn, who was also in attendance on the night.

“It’s absolutely amazing, it’s events like this that give me a real buzz,” he said.

“It’s lovely for me to be able to pay my respects to everyone that’s helped the football club over the last decade.

“There’s a whole range of different people here and hopefully we can encourage them to come back, not just to events like this but also to matches.”

The 2018 Directors’ Dinner has already been confirmed for Thursday 4th October, with booking details to be announced subsequently.
